Asian American Pacific Islander Employee and Colleague Resource Group

Meena Malik, cultural strategist, joined us on April 8 2024 and spoke to the Unity Alliance about workplace inclusion and ways to create a belonging framework.

Mission

Our goal is to be the "go-to" resource for faculty and staff who wish to engage in activities related to community, career, care, and culture of AAPIC. AAPIC is not only open to all faculty and staff who identify as Asian, Asian American or Pacific Islander, but colleagues are also welcome! Our Employee Resource Group will work to provide equal access and opportunities for all employees by aiming to strengthen dialogue and address issues facing our communities.

The AAPI Employee and Colleague Resource Group is dedicated to making the U of A the best place for all faculty, staff and students including Asians, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders to fulfill their career aspirations while maintaining their cultural identity. We provide support for university employees to accomplish the mission of teaching, research and service through strengthening diversity, fostering community and improving retention of all students, faculty and staff including Asian and Pacific Islander employees. AAPIC aims to develop leaders to educate, engage and support the university and its strategic initiatives. We plan to provide social networking, professional development and cultural events in the upcoming year.
