The Office of Equal Opportunity and Compliance guides, assists, and monitors the University community to encourage fair and equal treatment of all individuals in the processes that affect education and employment by enforcing all federal/state laws and regulations as well as university policies and procedures related to civil rights, equal employment opportunity, and non-discrimination.

 

Assistant Vice Chancellor & Director

Serves as the Assistant Vice Chancellor & Director of the Office of Equal Opportunity and Compliance and has the primary responsibility of oversight and strategic planning for the University's compliance with federal/state laws and regulations and university policies prohibiting discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and sexual harassment by or towards any university community member. Responsible for the implementation of equal opportunity, affirmative action, and diversity policies at the University of Arkansas and assists in the development and implementation of the university's affirmative action programs with University Administrators. Also provides technical advice and training to departments and search committees on recruitment strategies and procedures throughout the recruitment and hiring process. This may include information for recruiting minorities and women from registers and working with departments to set goals for affirmative action.

 

Associate Director/Compliance Officer

Serves as the Compliance Officer and ADA Coordinator for the Office of Equal Opportunity and Compliance. The Compliance Officer serves as the primary investigator and is responsible for the administration and management of the complaint procedure in accordance with the Non-Discrimination Policy. The ADA Coordinator is responsible for facilitating the Reasonable Accommodation process in accordance with the Disability Accommodation Policy. Also responsible for all training related to these topics and primarily responsible for all responses to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Office of Civil Rights (OCR) complaints.

Serves as the Grievance Officer for the Office of Equal Opportunity and Compliance and is primarily responsible for the administration and facilitation of the University Staff Grievance Procedure, which provides a fair, efficient, and equitable solutions for problems arising out of the employment relationship; EO related administration and monitoring of the recruitment process for ensuring non-discriminatory employee hiring and promotion practice involving faculty and staff; statistical analysis as related to the affirmative action plan; and Technology Coordinator as related to case management. Responsible for all training related to these topics. Also assists as an investigator with the complaint procedure in accordance with the Discrimination and Sexual Harassment Policy. 

Equal Opportunity (EO) Specialist

Serves as the EO Specialist and is primarily responsible for serving as the case manager ensuring that cases are processed in a prompt and timely manner. The EO Specialist also assists with ensuring non-discriminatory employee hiring practices through the review of the recruitment process for staff and faculty.

Training Coordinator

Serves as the Training Coordinator and is primarily responsible for the coordination of training conducted or hosted by the Office of Equal Opportunity and Compliance. Works with the appropriate trainers, IT staff,  and others to coordinate training from the phases of development to implementation and advertising. Provides office support by greeting visitors. answering calls, and completing other administrative tasks for the office.
